The DEP sponsors a number of popular events and contests to encourage and celebrate awareness of the environment.

For example, the DEP and other environmental organizations have celebrated New Jersey Environmental Education Week annually since 1987. Declared as either the third or fourth week in April, the week usually includes both Earth Day and Arbor Day.
