Welcome to the Division of Water Supply’s
web site. Within the site you will be able to
explore the various roles carried out by the
Division in the protection of our water supplies.
In addition, you will be able to download forms,
determine your water system’s deficit or
surplus firm capacity, check on permits (reports),
and research the implementing laws and regulations
for the Division.
The Division of Water Supply is responsible for
managing New Jersey’s water supply, to ensure
adequate, reliable, and safe water is available.
To accomplish this goal, the Division:
- Ensures public water systems meet the Federal & State
Drinking Water Standards.
- Ensures surface water and ground water diversions
do not exceed the sustainable yield of available
water resources.
- Protects ground water sources through proper
well drilling activities.
- Administers the Drinking Water State Revolving
Fund and other funds to finance the costs of
drinking water infrastructure improvements.
- Ensures proper construction, operation, & management
of public water systems.
- Oversees training activities and needs of public
water system operators.
- Identifies water supply needs and issues and
develops plans for their resolution.
- Develops New Jersey’s Statewide Water
Supply Plan.
- Initiates and develops long-term water supply
policies and strategies.
- Ensures proper response to water supply drought
emergencies.
- Develops and maintains electronic data management
systems to assist in regulating public water
systems.
- Promotes smart growth and sustainability of
water resources.
- Ensures an adequate water supply for New Jersey
residents through regional water supply planning.
The Division of Water Supply is comprised of two
Elements: Water Supply Operations and Water
Supply Permitting; and four Bureaus: Safe Drinking Water Technical Assistance,
Safe Drinking Water Implementation, Water
Allocation, and
Water System and Well Permitting. |
