NJ Reports on Health Care Quality

New Jersey 2009 Hospital Performance Report
The State's sixth annual report on hospital performance ranks the performance of the state's hospitals in delivering quality treatment including measures for heart attack, pneumonia, heart failure, and improving surgical care. The report also includes new measures for patient safety that show how well hospitals are preventing specific medical errors. Information about these conditions and measures as well as helpful consumer advice are presented in the report.

Nursing Home Report Card Nursing Home Report Card
New Jersey's Nursing Home Report Card has been replaced by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Five Star Rating system, Nursing Home Compare. This system includes a rating structure, which allows comparison of federally certified Nursing Homes in New Jersey and across the country.

In August 2004, DHSS appointed a 21 member Bariatric Work Group to study issues related to bariatric surgery. This second report is based on patients who had bariatric surgery in 2005 regardless of discharge date and examines severity, mortality, readmissions, complications, length of stay and other indicators.

Breastfeeding and New Jersey Maternity Hospitals Breastfeeding in NJ Hospitals: A Comparative Report
This Report compares the proportion of mothers who were breastfeeding exclusively, at the time of hospital discharge. For comparison purposes, analysis takes into consideration the different demographic patient populations among the hospitals.
