New Jersey, not unlike other states across the country, is faced with an addictions treatment and prevention workforce crisis.  In response to the ever-increasing expectations and strenuous work demands on our field, DAS is committed to upgrading and enhancing our profession through its Workforce Development Initiative.  By retaining the workers we have, developing career paths for these workers, expanding our workforce disciplines, and recruiting  new workers into the field,  addiction treatment in New Jersey is delivered by a more competent and culturally diverse workforce,

In support of these efforts, the DAS Workforce Development Initiative, through its contract with the New Jersey Prevention Network, offers free training to New Jersey’s treatment and prevention professionals, including:

  • CADC/CDA – initial certification courses
  • Specialized training in statutes and regulations for LCADCs
  • Cultural diversity trainings
  • Immersion trainings for recertification credits
  • Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) training
  • Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) training

DAS also works closely with the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (CeATTC) to deliver evidence-based, best-practice education to the field.  Most recently, the CeATTC has delivered the Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) curriculum to New Jersey treatment professionals from DAS-funded agencies. CeATTC is also conducting a Leadership Institute for managers and supervisors employed in DAS-funded agencies.  The Institute is an intense leadership preparation program designed to cultivate the development of future addiction leaders.
